A child under the age of sixteen years may be considered compromised or vulnerable because of the death or disappearance of, abandonment or desertion by, or separation or loss from one or both parents. The child of an unwed or underage mother may also be considered compromised or vulnerable if the extended family is unable or unwilling to care for the child properly.

Desire is different because we are a family-operated organization that is dedicated to providing long-term love and mentorship to compromised and vulnerable children. We are not an orphanage, we are a family. We are not tied to any religious organization. Our goal is to provide a secure and nurturing environment where each unique child feels safe to share their thoughts and feelings. We are a legally registered, volunteer-based organization. Sponsorship gifts go directly to the care of the children. There are occasional overhead expenses, and they are met from grants and general support gifts, never drawn from a child's sponsorship. We also prioritize close physical and mental health attention for each of our kids and believe in a holistic approach to child-raising.

Additionally, we are working towards achieving self-sufficiency through agriculture and aim to help children become confident cultural contributors and leaders. Our ultimate goal is to support them in achieving their individual hearts' desires.

Desire Child Care is now an officially recognized Ugandan Indigenous NGO. We are currently exploring ways to make it so international donations are tax-deductible. We will update this space as soon as we are able.

If you wish to provide specifically toward education fees, bedding, toys, books, art supplies, land purchase, livestock, etc., just let us know and we will happily comply with your wishes. We appreciate every generous gift, no matter the amount.

We are accepting support to create a fund for medical and other emergencies, and to raise funds to buy 4 acres of farmland to build a residential school for these and future Desire Kids. There are still many ways to support. Please reach out with questions.
